Nanomanufacturing, DirectorAhmed A. Busnaina, Ph.D. is the William Lincoln Smith Chair Professor and Director of National Science Foundation's Nanoscale Science and Engineering Center (NSEC) for High-rate Nanomanufacturing and the NSF Center for Nano and Microcontamination Control at Northeastern University. He is internationally recognized for his work on nano and micro scale defects mitigation and removal in semiconductor fabrication. His research was supported by industry and government. He served as a consultant on micro contamination and particle adhesion issues to the semiconductor industry. He is a fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and the Adhesion Society, a Fulbright Senior Scholar, Egypt and listed in Who's Who in the World. He was awarded the 2006 Nanotech Briefs National Nano50 Award, Innovator category, the 2006 Outstanding Faculty, Sÿren Buus Outstanding Research Award, and the 2005 Aspiration Award. Karl Brommer
BAE SystemsKarl Brommer is an engineering fellow at BAE Systems. He works on applications of nanotechnology to aerospace, electronics and communications. He is interested in quantum dots, carbon nanotubes, mesoscopic physics, dielectrics, magnetic materials, periodic microstructures and nanosensors. Karl received a PhD in physics from MIT where he did research in photonic band gap materials and silicon surfaces. Ben Schlatka
NanteroBen Schlatka is the Director of Business Development for Nantero, a venture funded nanotechnology startup. Prior to his role at Nantero, he worked at IBM Microelectronics for 5 years as a strategic marketing manager. He also served as Director of Marketing for Volunteer Solutions, a software startup focused on the nonprofit sector that was sold to the United Way in 2001. Ben holds a BBA in Marketing and Political Science from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and an MBA from the Harvard Business School. Tom Tiano
Foster-MillerMr. Tiano is the Strategic Program Manager for Nanomaterials at Foster-Miller. This research area, established at Foster-Miller by Mr. Tiano in 1999, focuses on developing materials and devices based on carbon nanotubes and other nanoparticles. The work has included programs with all agencies of the DOD, as well as NIST, the NIH and several commercial entities. Mr. Tiano also leads Foster-Millerís efforts in conductive composites and polymers, and is assisting in revitalizing its activities in polymer processing.†Prior to this, Mr. Tiano was employed by Globe Manufacturing Company as a Process Development Engineer and as a Research Engineer with Alcan Aluminum Corporation. He holds a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University, and a B. S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Lowell.
